Words of praise, indeed, are almost as necessary to warm a child into congenial life as acts of kindness and affection. Judicious praise is to children what sun is to flowers. -Bovee Double expectations piece focuses about the captured reality of two waiting little girls and their full expectations from life and the only one person they look up to(their father,a widower) in bringing about their hopes, dreams and imaginations as well as the crucial needed support to their life as they grow up. Without a loving, caring and warmth heart like that of a mother, life must go on as they expect to live every day as children and especially as girls.
Waiting, hoping and anxiety are always part of life,but this experience I had back in Lagos,Nigeria got me inspired about this drawing. These little girls had to wait for some long hours on their father, a next door neighbor while he is on his way back from work, at my apartment/studio and I couldn't help but notice and capture their constant looking out gaze of expectations for his arrival as I worked The promise of his coming home soon and their bring-home requests was way more really intense, focused and determined than present new sorrundings in my studio.
